Common problems caused by stray dogs - It is not an uncommon sight to see a lonely dog running around in your local countryside, rummaging through a tipped over garbage can or strutting along the streets of your town, and for the most part, people try to help them as best as they can – putting out scraps of food, calling local shelters or vets, and generally doing as much as they can to get them home to their frantic owners or finding them a new home if they are fit and well enough to do so. However, there are still people out there that choose to turn a blind eye to the poor pets that are living out there cold, alone and hungry, and perhaps these people are in fact, making the stray dog problem worse!
The thing about the problems with stray dogs and the problems they pose in the community is that with a quick call to a vet, shelter, wildlife control expert or even the dog pound, you can have them safely removed from the streets. When you remember that you often pass judgment on the people that left these dogs alone, kicking them out of their houses because they could no longer care for them, in reality, by not doing anything about the problem, you are just adding to it. It might not be your responsibility to look out for someone else’s dog, but it is your responsibility to look out for your own pets, your children, and the people in your community, so one call to the authorities is not really that much of a big deal. Think of it this way – if everyone said that the stray dog wasn’t their problem, the world would be overrun with them!
One of the main problems that people associate with the stray dog is the anger and aggression it can have towards other animals, other people and even worse than this, children. Remember that these creatures are scared, hungry and more often than not, hardened by having to survive alone and fast! If you were pushed out of your home with no cover from the rain, no food and no money, you would feel hardened by everything around you too!
Stray dogs are hungry dogs and this is why they go through garbage cans, and steal leftover food that may have been put out for your own family dog. Of course, one way to deal with this is to call the pound – they will take the poor pup, feed him and prevent him from having to steal your food!
What other problems are caused by stray dogs – well the answer to this is, of course, a lot! They can interact with family pets and spread fleas as well as other diseases. They could even mate with your poor family dogs and cause an epidemic of half stray pups! There can cause car accidents by running into busy roads, this list could go on for some time! The one way that you can put a stop to these problems is to call someone to deal with the situation, even if you don’t want to have to face the problem on your own!
